    Dublin, GA, June 28, 2017 –  The Georgia Department of Labor released the “Georgia Employment & Wages – 2016 Averages” report on Friday, June 23, 2017. The report compiled the average number of establishments, average employment, and average weekly wages in Georgia counties during the 2016 calendar year. Laurens County added 464 new jobs in 2016- a 2.6% increase from 2015 to 2016.  The community also experienced a tangible increase in average weekly wages going from $698 per week to $730 per week representing a 4.6% increase.  Economists predict every dollar of payroll circulates throughout the local economy six times.  The increase in average wages throughout the manufacturing sector specifically, will lead to increased economic impact for retail, service and other sectors.

    Dublin, GA, June 10, 2015- The Dublin-Laurens County Development Authority, along with AES Distributed Energy, today announced the commissioning of a 4 megawatt (MW) solar PV project located in the town of Dublin, in Laurens County. This system is the first of two solar PV projects being developed by AES Distributed Energy and its partners, collectively expected to supply 20 MW to the Georgia Power utility grid.

    Site Selection magazine names its Best to Invest Top US Economic Development Groups of 2014
    Atlanta, May 4, 2015: Site Selection magazine has named its Top US Economic Development Groups of 2014 as part of the magazine’s annual Best to Invest rankings. Local economic development groups were first ranked according to four objective categories: new jobs, new jobs per 10,000 residents, new investment amount and new investment per 10,000 residents. Additional criteria included the creativity of economic development strategy; scope of project activity; and documenting link between the economic development organization and actual results. The rankings include the top ten metropolitan groups and honorable mentions, and the top 20 micropolitan groups.

    Dublin, GA, April 28, 2015 – The Dublin-Laurens County Development Authority hired Beatriz Lleras as the full-time Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator on February 23, 2015. Ms. Lleras is a product of the Dublin City Schools system and is a recent graduate of the University of Georgia, where she double majored in Communication Studies and Romance Languages.  Ms. Lleras will focus primarily on marketing to targeted industry sectors throughout the world and assisting the Development Authority with public relations and communications strategies.  She will also manage the Authority’s website, social media platforms, and event planning responsibilities.

    International Officials Join Dublin-Laurens County Leadership for Valmiera Glass USA Corp Ribbon Cut
    Dublin, GA,  March 26, 2015 – The Honorable Latvian Ambassador to the United States, Andris Razāns and the Mayor of Valmiera, the Honorable Jānis Baiks, joined state and local officials today to celebrate the ribbon cutting and dedicate a new 80,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility that will serve as the North American headquarters of Valmiera Glass USA Corp.  The project, which Georgia Governor Nathan Deal announced in July of 2014 will consist of 150 new jobs in Laurens County and a capital investment of $20 million.  In the initial press release, Governor Deal noted, “This project represents the first substantial investment from  Latvia – one of the Baltic States, which underscores the fact that Georgia’s thriving automotive and aerospace industries are gaining attention in the international marketplace.”

    Dublin, GA,  February 26, 2015 - After due diligence and long-term planning, the Dublin-Laurens County Development Authority (DLCDA) elected to proceed with the purchase of a 331 acre industrial tract at the intersection of GA Hwy 257 and US Hwy 441 Bypass. The acquisition will provide the community with a rail-served site to offer potential industrial clients interested in locating in Laurens County. Prior to the acquisition, the Authority did not own any property available with rail connectivity. The recent success in locating Erdrich USA, Inc. and Valmiera Glass USA Corp. in the Development Authority’s I-16 Industrial Park was another factor that contributed to the need to secure additional property to market.
